OCKLAWAHA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Detectives with the Marion County Sheriff's Office are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains in Ocklawaha. Deputies received a call around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
The remains were found by three fishermen at a remote location between the 6300th and 6500th block of SE 149th Court Road. The bones were located adjacent to an unnamed lake and were visible from a walking path surrounding the lake.
Evidence technicians responded to process the scene. Detectives will be conducting a joint investigation with the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the gender, identity and cause/manner of death of this individual.
