House fire in Deltona sent one woman to the hospital

A Deltona house went up in flames Friday afternoon.

Neighbor Genevieve Liuzzo watched it all happen.

“I looked up and all this black smoke was coming out of there," she said. "You couldn't get in there. There was so much smoke, you couldn't get in the house.”

She said the woman and dog living inside made it out.

“They finally found her in the backyard. She was laying on the ground, but they picked her up and put her in the ambulance and took her away.”

Animal control took the woman's dog.

Liuzzo said the fire was under control in a couple of hours.

Fortunately, she said the woman living there was OK.

“I just called the hospital. They just released her,” she said.

Liuzzo said the woman living there and her dog barely made it.

“There's no walls. Everything burned. She's lucky to get out when she did,” she said.

Firefighters say the fire started in the bedroom and spread to the garage and attic.

No firefighters were injured.
