History, hot building concept to blend in Sanford development
SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The makeover in Downtown Sanford shows no signs of slowing down.
There is now much more to the little Seminole County city by Lake Monroe than the shops and restaurants of 1st Street. There is a bustling business district on Sanford Avenue and an emerging one along 2nd Street. It is here where the next hot thing might take shape very soon.
Deland-based developer Mitch Menaker has plans for a dining and retail development at the corner of 2nd and Palmetto Avenue. It's just a dirt lot right now., but Menaker wants to bring in a historic rail car and surround it with shipping containers. The rail car would hold a high-end restaurant. The containers will be a combination of dining, bars and retail.
