Officer Johnny Pollack with the Gwinnett County Police Department saved money for months and worked part-time jobs to raise enough money to hold a haircut drive for local students.

Pollack teamed up with Legacy Cuts in Snellville and rented out the barber shop to give students free haircuts over the weekend.

The officer also gave away over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies.

"It's more than about being an officer, it is about being a person, a person in a position to give back," Pollack told FOX 5. "Just to have those resources available can help start them, or point them in a better direction."

Officer Pollack said it's just one way he can make a difference when he's not in uniform. He said the kids were so excited and seeing their smiles made those extra hours of work worth it.
