DeSantis: Kissimmee drug suspects were illegal immigrants
Orlando, FL(FOX 35 Orlando) - Governor Ron DeSantis says the suspects in a Kissimmee drug bust that shot a Florida law enforcement agent are illegal immigrants.
It was a shooting just over two weeks ago that left a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agent injured as they were working an undercover drug bust in Kissimmee that expanded to Tampa.
Osceola Rosie Cano said, "It’s scary. I’m just scared."
She's scared after learning that these four suspects involved in the violent sting were illegal immigrants. Governor Ron Desantis made the announcement, stating "they were moving 25 pounds of methamphetamine when they were arrested – they shot an agent."

He added that drug activity has gotten worse in the last six months. That is why he plans to send Florida law enforcement to the border.
"These are convicted criminal aliens," Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. "The Calvary is coming. We have a choice. We can either fight this at the border or in our own backyards."
Osceola County residents have mixed reactions. Resident William Sanabra said, "I think it’s a good idea. You just gotta be safe. Take precautions, measures for our safety."
Rosie Cano disagrees, "The police need to be more involved patrolling in the community to protect us, then preventing them from coming in."
