Forecast: Weather conditions improve for SpaceX Crew-1 mission launch

Weather conditions good for SpaceX launch

NASA says there is a 70 percent chance that the SpaceX Crew-1 mission will launch, an improvement of just 50 percent chance listed a day earlier.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The Falcon 9 NASA Crew-1 mission, originally scheduled to launch Saturday, is still on target for a Sunday night launch.

The probability for the launch of the Falcon 9 SpaceX Crew-1 mission improved to 70 percent late Sunday afteroon, up from 50 percent a day earlier.

According to the 45th Weather Squadron at Patrick Air Force Base, the "primary launch weather concerns will be the cumulus clouds and precipitation associated with this activity, along with electric fields from any more robust showers."

Cape Canaveral was cloudy for most of the day but as the sunset, the skies appeared clear over Launch Pad 39A.

If there are lightning strikes within ten miles of the launch pad, it will be scrubbed. 

The good news is the latest computer models have just light rain occurring at Cape Canaveral during the launch window.
