Women gets garnished lottery winnings

Two weeks ago, FOX 35 aired a story of a woman who won the lottery but couldn't claim her winnings because the state said she owes money. She won back in June, but just this week she finally received a check for the full $2,900 and a letter saying she owes nothing.

An Orlando woman became an instant millionaire after purchasing a winning lottery ticket worth $2 million, according to a Florida Lottery news release.

Lottery officials identified the winner as 24-year-old Dominic Valerio, who played the TRIPLE 777 scratch-off game. She bought the ticket at a Publix store located at 12195 South Orange Blossom Trail, near Wetherbee Road in Orlando.

Valerio opted for a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,280,000, the Florida Lottery said. The store received a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The TRIPLE 777 game still offers one remaining $2 million top prize and 22 $10,000 prizes.

The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-3.51.
