Florida man pepper sprays ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend during argument: police

Robert Wilken (Marion County Sheriff's Office)

A man was taken to jail after pepper-spraying his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend during an argument at a Silver Springs home, according to an arrest affidavit.

On Sunday, Marion County deputies arrested 25-year-old Robert Wilken on a battery charge.

Deputies said Wilken went over to the home to visit his ex-girlfriend – whom he shares a child with – when the two became arguing. When the victim asked Wilken to leave, Wilken reportedly pulled out the can of pepper spray and sprayed the victim in the face and chest before taking off.

Officials said the victim's eyes and face were visibly swollen and his nose was running as a result of the pepper spray.

Deputies later spoke to Wilden at his home who admitted to pepper-spraying the victim after an argument. Wilken told deputies the victim had allegedly "sucker punched" him on the side of the head in a previous incident, but law enforcement was never notified.

Wilden was taken to jail without incident.
