Woman wanted

The backstory:

Earlier this month, deputies posted on social media asking the public for help in identifying a woman wanted for aggravated battery and shoplifting in Palm Coast.

Officials reported the incident took place around 10:30 a.m. Jan. 2 at the Dollar General location on Market Avenue.

Sheriffs believed the woman was white and in her late 40s. She last was seen wearing a hat and a scarf with long blonde hair, which could be a wig, reports show.

Deputies stated the woman left on a mountain bike following the incident.

Crack in the case

In an updated post shared later that day on social media, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said they were able to identify the woman as 34-year-old Maria Gritsaev.

Deputies credited the find to a person on social media who was able to identify Gritsaev.

What's next:

Gritsaev has been transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on a $6,000 bond, sheriffs stated.
