Florida family's Whirlpool fridge explodes in the middle of the night

WEST PALM BEACH (WPTV) - A Florida family's fridge exploded in the middle of the night.

The West Palm Beach family says that they were asleep when they heard a loud bang in the kitchen. They raced to see what it was and found their fridge blown to pieces with a hole in the wall.

A neighbor rushed over to help the family after also hearing the loud bang and a smoke alarm. No one was hurt but the family says that it should be a wake up call for homeowners. 

The fridge was a four-month old Whirlpool Refrigerator. The family is not sure why the fridge blew up and the manufacturer is not commenting on the incident. There is not currently a recall for this model.
