Florida detectives seize edible marijuana packaged to look like candy
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Detectives in south Florida have seized edible marijuana packaged to look like candy.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office said that detectives seized 332 units of edible marijuana packaged to look like candy. They released photos of the items onto Facebook so that parents could be aware of their appearance.
The seized items reportedly have a combined value of $33,600.
Medical marijuana is legal in Florida but the Colllier County Sheriff's Office said that state statues prohibit marijuana edibles from being packaged in a way that is attractive to children or made in a form that resembles candy. Medical marijuana in Florida reportedly must be sealed in plain, opaque wrapping and marked with a universal marijuana symbol.
If parents encounter items that resemble the ones in the images below, they are asked to contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300 or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
