Florida content creator, wildlife enthusiast recovers after rattlesnake bite
DIXIE COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida content creator known for his wildlife videos is recovering after a venomous bite from an eastern diamondback rattlesnake nearly claimed his life.
David Humphlett was filming the four-foot-long snake last month when it struck his leg.
"That right there is a fantastic eastern diamondback rattlesnake that I just got bit in the leg by," Humphlett said in a video recorded shortly after the incident.
Humphlett described the pain as excruciating.
"I felt my gut just flip on me," he said, adding that he called his wife, Emma, to tell her he loved her in case he didn’t survive.
"I’m obviously panicked. I have tunnel vision," Emma said after she got the news.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he received 88 vials of antivenom. Despite fears he might lose his leg, Humphlett is on the mend with the support of his wife, who described the ordeal as overwhelming.
Humphlett has long shared his passion for wildlife with followers, often handling snakes, including rattlesnakes. This time, however, the encounter took a dangerous turn.
Despite the close call, Humphlett remains committed to his work.
"There are times where it’s okay to hold even a snake when you understand the species, the behavior, and the individual that’s in front of you," he said.
Humphlett credits the support of friends and family for his recovery and continues to share his love for animals with his audience.
The couple has a GoFundMe page where you can donate to assist with medical bills and recovery expenses. You can also follow Humplett on Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube.
