Flight delays reported at OIA due to FAA air traffic issues in Miami

Orlando International Airport reported flight delays of up to 30 minutes or more on Monday afternoon due to technical issues at the Federal Aviation Administration's Miami Center.

Flights departing Orlando International Airport and other airports in Florida were unexpectedly delayed Monday afternoon due to a radar issue at the FAA's Miami and Jacksonville control centers, the FAA said.

"The FAA temporarily paused flights to and from parts of South Florida due to a radar issue," a spokesperson with the FAA told FOX 35 News. "The issue affected the FAA’s Miami and Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Centers."

The issue was fixed after about an hour, according to the FAA statement.

Flights departing Miami International Airport and Palm Beach International Airport were also impacted by the FAA's technical issue.

By late afternoon, more than 200 flights were delayed at Orlando International, about 150 in Fort Lauderdale, and about 130 in Miami, according to tracking service FlightAware. However, as of 5 p.m., all issues appeared to be resolved.

If you are traveling through Orlando or Miami, passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest information on flights.
