Flagler County jury took only minutes to convict man of child sexual battery, molestation charges
ORLANDO, Fla. - What we know: A Flagler County jury took just 11 minutes of deliberation Wednesday to convict Daniel Rodriguez on multiple charges, including sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age and lewd and lascivious molestation.
Rodriguez, whose trial lasted two days, was also found guilty of three counts of lewd or lascivious battery on a person 12 years of age or older but less than 16 years of age.
"The defendant will spend the remainder of his life in the Florida State Prison System," State Attorney R.J. Larizza said in a statement following the verdict. "He deserves nothing less."
The case was investigated by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, and Assistant State Attorney Melissa Clark successfully prosecuted the case. Circuit Judge Dawn Nichols presided over the trial and will announce Rodriguez’s sentence at a later date.
Rodriguez faces a mandatory life sentence for the crimes.
