First black judge of Osceola County sworn in

Gabrielle Sanders, a Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law 2009 graduate, has officially been sworn in as Osceola County's first black judge.

Sanders is also the first FAMU College of Law graduate to be elected as a judge serving in Osceola County.

She said that “I am honored to represent Osceola County in the role of judge for the Ninth Judicial Circuit." 

The FAMU College of Law recognized Judge Sanders with the Distinguished Alumni Award in November 2018. She also is one of three FAMU Law alumni who currently serves as a judge in Central Florida. The other two are Judge Amy Carter in Orange County and Judge Kelly McCormack Ingram in Brevard County.

Judge Sanders was sworn in at an Investiture Ceremony on February 22nd at the Osceola County Courthouse. She presides over civil cases.
