FHP: 1 dead after driver runs stop sign

A 66-year-old Orlando woman is dead after her vehicle was struck Friday evening after an SUV ran a stop sign, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Apopka Boulevard and Overland Road. 

Troopers say a Toyota 4-Runner, driven by a 29-year-old Orlando man, was traveling westbound on Apopka Blvd when he failed to stop at a stop sign.  The Toyota then made contact with a Kia Soul that was traveling southbound on Overland Rd.  The driver of the Soul was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

According to the report, the driver of the Toyota, along with two passengers, were not injured and remained on scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the name of the deceased and the crash remains under investigation.
