Squatters take over home after owner passes away

Six squatters were arrested after drugs were found inside a home in a Holly Hill neighborhood that was supposed to be a vacant home.

Six people were arrested following an undercover police operation after multiple complaints from residents in a Holly Hill neighborhood.

Over the last week and a half, Volusia County deputies, along with Holly Hill police, conducted undercover operations and surveillance on the 618 Flomich St home. 

Residents complained that there was constant pedestrian and bicycle traffic coming and going from the residence, arrest records show.

On Wednesday, detectives detained multiple people and arrested six people on narcotics and other charges.

According to deputies, the suspected supplier, 20-year-old Jahmall Collins, was arrested and found with 24 grams of fentanyl, two pistols, ammunition, and several hundred dollars in cash.

Detectives go undercover to bust squatters

A house in Holly Hill taken over by squatters is alarming residents. An undercover operation resulted in six arrests after it was discovered a drug operation was being run from the home.

Several people rounded up from Holly Hill home

Body cam footage shows multiple people who were inside a home that allegedly served as a drug trafficking hub in Holly Hill, Florida

"It's been like 3 or 4 months that it's been really bad, said neighbor Mike Moon. "Just debris and piles of bicycles and trash and just so many people going in and out."

Collins was charged with armed trafficking in fentanyl, possession of a weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon, resisting an officer without violence, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and attaching an unassigned tag. 

The other five people arrested include: 

  • Paul Mellette Jr. - Sale of fentanyl
  • James Stevens - carrying a concealed weapon
  • Sean Remberg - possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia
  • Clinton Golden - possession of fentanyl
  • Donathan Evans - possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia
