Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver who they say hit and killed a 40-year-old bicyclist, then just kept going.

"We'd like for them to find who done it and bring them to justice," said John Barnes, the victim’s uncle.

The family of Xavier Barnes, 40,  is grieving after their loved one was hit by a car and killed while riding his bicycle near the intersection of  WD Judge Drive and Ferguson Drive Saturday evening.

The driver who hit Barnes fled the scene.

“Seem to me that these days people just don't' have any values, they don't care about human life," John Barnes said. "People just don't have no sympathy for anybody."

Fox 35 spoke with the victim's uncle and dad who told us the father of  two was on his way home  from work when he was hit.

"He grew up in the church, he knew church values, and he was just somebody that wanted to work and take care of his family,” John Barnes said.

On Sunday, The Florida Highway Patrol said they found the maroon Ford Mustang convertible that hit Barnes, abandoned near the scene of the crash, but they still hadn't identified the driver.

Still, it give this family a glimmer of hope that someone will be held accountable

"I'm glad they found that car," John Barnes said. Iif they find the car, eventually they might find who was in it, the owner of the car, and maybe they can find who was driving it."

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run crash should contact Florida Highway Patrol.
