Orlando Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a car early Sunday morning.

“He was my oldest son and my best friend,” said the victim’s father, Howard Rogers.

The 31-year-old, also named Howard Rogers, was shot and killed. Police say officers were first called to a parking lot on Old Winter Garden Road for shots fired at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

A short time after, Rogers was found dead inside a car on nearby Mission Road.

As investigators searched for evidence, Rogers’ dad was there watching and waiting.

“After about four hours, I couldn’t get an answer, I knew my son was deceased,” he said.

We’re told Rogers had three kids and that he was a generous person.

“He was a person that gave from the heart. Even when people didn’t give back - he still gave,” Rogers said.

Police have released few details about what may have led up to the shooting, but they do say the investigation is “very active.”

Rogers’ dad says he hopes the person who killed his son will be brought to justice.

“I just want to let you people know that if you know anything about what happened, please come forward because you don’t know what this family is going through,” he said.
