Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando to be 'on a whole other level'
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Bigger, and better than ever. That's how Pasquale Rotella, founder & CEO of Insomniac Events, is describing this year's Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC).
Insomniac Events, which hosts electronic dance festival, gave The News Station a first look at the expansion and new elements headed to Orlando in November.
“This year it’s going to be on a whole other level,” said Rotella.
EDC Orlando is promised to be a Las Vegas-caliber EDC experience.
“Pretty much every stage that we build is going to be larger than we’ve ever had,” said Rotella.
The music festival, held at Tinker Field, adjacent to Camping World Stadium, is expanding to three days and growing by 10 acres. The expansion brings the total acreage to more than 40.
“We added an extra day to make it even more worthwhile for travelers,” said Rotella.
Larger stages, an additional stage, more acts and art installations are expected to wow festival-goers. It will also feature a massive overhead LED spinner and an art display.
“We’re building something called Pixel Forest, which is a walk through experience, that we’ve only done in Vegas,” said Rotella.
The festival has enjoyed much success in Orlando, growing in attendance every year from 30,000 in 2007 to more than 100,000 in 2019. This year, the production team is expecting attendance to hit a record 250,000. Rotella believes EDC Orlando will grow to the size of the Vegas event, drawing half a million people.
“I’m very confident we can grow the festival to that size,” said Rotella.
But some residents in the surrounding neighborhood, concerned about the growing crowd and noise.
“We’re always listening, it’s really important to hear what the neighbors have to say,” said Rotella.
Rotella says adjustments are made during the event to accommodate concerns, but why the focus on Orlando? Rotella’s love for the “City Beautiful” is clear.
“It’s a City that has an energy about it that ties very well into what EDC is about,” said Rotella, “Being your best self, no judgment, accepting people of all different kinds.”
EDC Orlando takes the stage, November 8 through 10.
