Eastbound lanes I-4 near Maitland closing on Sunday night for lane shift
MAITLAND, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - More changes are coming to Interstate 4 (I-4) just in time for your Monday morning commute.
New eastbound I-4 lanes are set to open on Monday morning. For this shift to happen, a chunk of eastbound I-4 will be closed starting Sunday evening at 10 p.m. for crews to work. They will stay closed until 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
As a result, all eastbound traffic will be detoured between Maitland Boulevard and State Road 434. So, if you are heading east on I-4, you will have to exit at Maitland Boulevard and onto State Road 434. You will follow the 434 all the way around to where it links back up with I-4 again to get back on.
Some of the exit and entrance ramps to I-4 at Maitland Boulevard and State Road 434 will also change slightly to accomodate the lane shift. They say that drivers will be forced to merge sooner than before, so keep that in mind on Monday morning.
The eastbound I-4 entrance at Maitland will also close at 7 p.m. on Sunday. The one at State Road 434 will close at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
All lanes, inlcuding the new ones, should be open in time for the morning rush on Monday.
