Dog killed by gator in Port Orange neighborhood

PORT ORANGE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say a family bulldog's body was pulled from a lake inside the Sky Lake Estates in Port Orange Monday.

The dog disappeared on Thursday and wildlife officials believe a gator got a hold of the pet.

Officials have since set up a trap for what is believed to be a 12-foot alligator.

Residents say it's gator mating season right now and they're used to the wildlife in the area, but are being more cautious.
