Disney installs centerpiece for new Tiana's Bayou Adventure attraction
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - The centerpiece for Walt Disney World's new Tiana's Bayou Adventure attraction is up.
Walt Disney Imagineering installed the tiara-topped water tower overnight.
"The Princess and the Frog" inspired ride is scheduled to open at Magic Kingdom Park in 2024. The ride takes guests on a musical adventure in New Orleans and picks up after the final kiss of the Disney film.
The attraction is replacing Splash Mountain which permanently closed in January.
In 2020, many people called for Splash Mountain to be re-themed because of its connection to the film Song of the South, which has been the subject of much controversy as many critics have described the film's portrayal of African Americans as racist and offensive.
