Deputies ID teen fatally shot in Apopka
APOPKA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Deputies continue to search for a killer, after a teenager was gunned down. Deputies on Tuesday went door-to-door, handing out flyers, as they try to find out who killed 17-year-old Contondre Bryant. He was shot dead outside an Apopka Church on Monday afternoon.
"He was really special to me," said Brianna McFarland. She and Bryant were expecting a baby in September.
She said she was on the phone with him when the shooting occurred, and hopes the killer is caught. "That's very important. I really want to know who did this to him."
Many parents who live near the area of 13th Street and Old Apopka Road are also concerned for their safety and the safety of their children. Geovanni Castro said, "Some leaders, speak up, do what you gotta do.Its ridiculous, there's just so many kids getting hit, getting injured. "
According to Orange County Commissioner Bryan Nelson, there have been four shootings in Apopka in the last three weeks. He is asking the public for assistance in stopping the violence. "Help us! You're out there, you see what's going on, and we need your help to solve crimes or prevent crimes, so we need people to come forward if they see something that don't look right."
Meanwhile, McFarland said she wants justice. "Jail, prison," she said, for the one responsible.
Deputies said an older Toyota SUV, possibly brown or gold, was seen leaving the area. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
