ORANGE CITY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - An accused gunman in a July 15 shooting in Deltona was taken into custody on Monday in the Orange City area on charges including multiple counts of attempted murder.
Jacobi Barringer, 20, of Sanford, was arrested around 12:50 p.m. in the area of U.S. 17-92 and Rhode Island Avenue by Volusia County sheriff’s detectives working with the U.S. Marshals Service Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force.
The July 15 shooting happened in the area of 1520 April Ave., Deltona. The victim, a 21-year-old Orange City man, was grazed in the cheek by a bullet. The victim and two others were pulled over on the side of April Avenue inside a Hummer SUV when the shooter approached, demanded the keys to the Hummer and then fired multiple shots.
Barringer was spotted in a vehicle by a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force member and apprehended a short time later after a tactical traffic stop was conducted. He was taken into custody without incident, and no one was injured during the apprehension.
He is charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into a conveyance. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
