Deland woman struck by lightning
DELAND FLA, (WOFL-FOX) - Tuesday afternoon's storm put a DeLand woman in the hospital after she was struck by lightning.
The DeLand Police Department says that officers were dispatched to Woodland Boulevard in reference to a female struck by lightning just after 5:50 p.m. Upon arrival, EVAC and the DeLand Fire Department were already working to revive the victim, Summer Conner.
Police say that a witness stated that he went outside with Conner to talk. He is said to have reached for his car door and felt a jolt of electricity. Then, when he looked over, Summer reportedly fell to the ground.
Another witness, according to police, says that he was smoking with Conner when she was struck by lightning. He also said that she turned purple by the time she hit the ground.
Conner was reportedly transported by EVAC to DeLand Florida Hospital, where she remains in critical condition at this time.
