Death investigation underway in Pine Hills

Pine Hills, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Orange County deputies are trying to find out why a man was found dead in his home.

As deputies go door-to-door looking for answers, Florrita Barnes wonders why a man was found dead a few houses away.

"I was shocked," she said. It's definitely not something that usually happens in the neighborhood."

Investigators went out to the Pine Hills home located on Indianatlantic Avenue, just after noon Monday.

They say it was an aggravated battery call from a third party.

Corp. Dave Burdick says, "We got a call regarding a male that was found deceased in the home."

So far, they haven't released the name of the victim.

"He's an African American male in his mid to late 50s," Burdick said. "Trauma is to the body, and at this point, that's all I can tell you. Unknown means at this point."

As investigators continue to look for answers in this death investigation, they say there is someone they plan to talk to.

"There is an individual that we're looking at right now that's a person of interest."
