Daytona Beach Police investigating shooting

A woman said flying bullets nearly hit her during a shooting in Daytona Beach. The woman told FOX 35 News that she was backing out of a driveway when the shots rang out in the neighborhood. The bullet went through her front windshield.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A woman said flying bullets nearly hit her during a shooting in Daytona Beach. 

The woman told FOX 35 News that she was backing out of a driveway when the shots rang out in the neighborhood. The bullet went through her front windshield. 

"I was just backing up to leave, and a car came up and started shooting, so I ducked and pulled forward," she said.

Daytona Beach Police are investigating the shooting on Hawk Street. According to police, one person was shot and has non-life-threatening injuries. 

The woman didn’t want to be identified by name. She says she doesn’t know who the people were or why they fired shots. Her kids were sitting on the front stoop, and she believes the car stopped them from getting shot. 

"It was pretty scary just the thought that they could have been hit, but my car blocked that," she said. "I know it wouldn’t have been good if I wasn’t facing that way. It probably would have come this way at the right time. I’m grateful that’s all."
