School crossing guard hit by car
A school crossing guard was rushed to the hospital after she was struck by a vehicle. St. Cloud police officers said the driver responsible ran through a red light.
ST. CLOUD, Fla. - A crossing guard in St. Cloud was hit by a vehicle on Thursday, officials confirmed.
The St. Cloud Police Department said that a vehicle and a pedestrian were involved in an accident on Thursday morning at the intersection of 13th Street and Michigan Avenue.

The Osceola County School District confirmed to FOX 35 that the person hit was a crossing guard. It was confirmed at the scene that one person was transported in serious condition. We are working to determine more details.
"Our preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was at fault and ran a red light," said Sgt. Jose Nater of the St Cloud Police Department.
"Not surprised," said St. Cloud resident Scott Ludwig. "Twenty-three years of living here, on this corner of the neighborhood. I’ve seen numerous times crossing guards and kids almost get hit when people are making a left turn or right turn. They’re just not paying attention."
Ludwig said he recently watched crossing guards practice at this intersection a few weeks ago.
"They were doing some training for crossing guards, very professional with safety gear."
He hopes the crossing guard will be ok and has a reminder for drivers.
"Slow down and take a look before you make a turn. Watch where you’re going because you’re responsible for your actions."
The crossing guard is recovering at Osceola Regional Medical Center. We're told the driver is cooperating.
