Crews search for possible missing person in Lake Monroe
Emergency crews and law enforcement are searching Lake Monroe near Veterans Memorial Park in Sanford following reports of a missing person.
SANFORD, Fla. - Authorities in Seminole County received a tip on Monday that a woman had jumped into Lake Monroe and did not resurface. Emergency response crews conducted a lengthy search in an area of the lake near Veterans Memorial Park in Sanford.
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office assisted Seminole County Fire Rescue in the search. Boats were slowly combing over an area near the shoreline as a crowd gathered along the RIverWalk.
"We were unable to confirm that any of the information initially given was factual," said Bianca Gillett a spokesperson for the Sanford Police and Fire Departments.
