Arrest made after motorcyclist killed in Winter Park hit-and-run crash, police say

Winter Park police investigate crash on Orlando Avenue. 

A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday in a crash with a van in Winter Park, and the van’s driver was later arrested on a DUI charge, police said.

What we know:

Winter Park police responded around 2:17 a.m. to the area of Minnesota and Orlando avenues after receiving a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a van.

Police said the van left the scene after the crash. Maitland police later located the vehicle near U.S. 17-92 and O’Brien Road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead.

Bryan Eric Christian, 40, was arrested and booked into the Seminole County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Oct. 6, 2026.

Orlando Avenue shut down for hours

Orlando Avenue was shut down in both directions from Gene Street to Minnesota for hours as crews worked to clear the crash. 

Morning commuters had to use alternate routes to get around the roadblock. 

What we don't know:

Police have not identified the motorcyclist who was killed in the crash. 

Police said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.

The crash remains under investigation.
