Central Florida was thankfully spared from Hurricane Michael, but for many areas, flooding is still a major concern.

The storm surge from Hurricane Michael pounded the popular water front here in Cedar Key. Some restaurants, condominiums, and surrounding businesses did flood as the storm surge moved in. But overall, Cedar Key was very lucky.

The Levy County Sheriff's Office says that based on past storms, if Cedar key took a direct hit from Hurricane Michael, it wouldn't have survived those Category 4 winds.

There was a mandatory evacuation of Cedar Key and the Police Chief says that about half the people complied. But now, the city is just looking forward to cleaning up and reopening Cedar Key to the public as soon as possible.

Some roads still remain closed due to flooding, but the water is receding. Levy County schools will remain closed on Thursday, but will re-open on Friday.
