ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Airports across Central Florida are re-opening as Hurricane Dorian tracks offshore.
The Orlando International Airport airline flight operations began phasing in earlier Wednesday, based on crew and aircraft availability for more than 40-airlines. The early-morning decision to resume normal operations at noon was made after consultation with the National Weather Service (NWS) about prospective wind and weather conditions. As a result of Hurricane Dorian’s unpredictable path, more than 1,400 arrivals and departures were canceled at MCO between Monday and Wednesday. Passengers are encouraged to check with their specific airline for flight details.
Daytona Beach International Airport terminal will resume normal service at 4 a.m. tomorrow, Sept. 5. Customers with a scheduled flight in or out of the airport should contact their air carrier directly to confirm or reschedule. The Delta Air Lines 40th Anniversary events scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
The planned closure of Orlando-Melbourne International Airport’s terminal ceased operations at noon on Monday. They re-opened their MLB Air Traffic Control Tower at noon on Wednesday. Their terminal will no re-open until 6 a.m. on Thursday. Commercial flights will resume at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The Orlando-Sanford International Airport will closed at 11 p.m. on Monday. They will re-open at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. All passengers should contact their airline to see what steps can be taken to rearrange travel plans in the wake of the storm.
