ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A busted pipe sent water rushing everywhere on Wednesday and flooded several apartments. Orange County Utilities say that the pipe was repaired this Thursday.
Water was gushing for more than four hours on Wednesday. The county had to bring pumps to suck up all the standing water after the pipe burst, flooding the entire area.
Fire officials say that around 20 units were evacuated as a precaution. They say four ground level apartments flooded in this building and the power had to be shut off.
Orange County Utilities says that now that the pipe is repaired, crews will backfill the excavation and additionally clean the areas around the apartment complex that were impacted, as well as the sidewalks. The sidewalk and road are expected to be fully reopened by 5 p.m. on Thursday.
The incident occurred along International Drive near Meadow Bend Loop. As people watched the water flow out, utility crews got to work. After hours of the mess, things finally tapered off and pumps were brought in for clean up.
Some people who live in the building without power say they has to relocated within the complex temporarily.
