Bikers performing stunts on I-4 could face serious consequences
ORLANDO, Fla. - A driver recently captured video of a group of bikers performing stunts, including popping wheelies and driving erratically, in the express lane of Interstate 4.
Thankfully, no one was injured, but the reckless behavior could result in serious legal repercussions.
The incident occurred Saturday morning near the I-4 and State Road 436 interchange. Henry Viera, a lifelong motorcycle rider, condemned the dangerous behavior, saying, "Reckless driving is never okay."
"I used to be one of those gentlemen — used to fly down the interstate, no helmet, just a pair of glasses. ‘I’m cool doing 160 miles an hour,’ you know? And then you know tragedy happens. I’ve seen multiple friends pass," he added.
In Florida, such actions are considered a misdemeanor for a first offense, carrying fines of up to $2,000 and a one-year license suspension.
A second offense within the same year can result in a third-degree felony, with fines of up to $4,000 and a two-year license suspension.

A third offense within five years brings even harsher penalties, including longer license suspensions and additional fines.
Attempting to flee from law enforcement can lead to jail time. Retired criminal investigator David Nutting warned, "It can result in serious bodily injury or death," especially for the motorcycle rider.
"It's been going on for literally decades," Nutting said. "I mean, myself, as a young patrol deputy in the streets of Orange County in the early 2000s, that was a problem."
If reckless riders damage property, authorities advise taking video of the damage and photographing the vehicle’s license plate if possible.
