Atlas V rocket successfully launches from Florida space coast

The United Launch Alliance's (ULA) Atlas V rocket was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida Sunday morning.

Space System Command (SSC), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), along with other mission partners successfully launched the Atlas V rocket at 8:47 a.m.

The launch was originally scheduled for 8:51 a.m. on Saturday but was scrubbed due to an issue found during a prelaunch ordinance circuit continuity check.

The ULA said the mission is supposed to strengthen the NRO's ability to provide a wide range of timely intelligence information to national decision-makers, warfighters, and intelligence analysts to protect the nation's vital interests and support humanitarian efforts worldwide.

Cape Canaveral has had a busy weekend as SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket to send Starlink satellites into low-earth orbit Friday night.
