Authorities have arrested a man, accused of stealing an equipment trailer from a Boy Scout troop in Brevard County.

Stephen Petnel, 36, didn't respond as Melbourne police officers put handcuffs on Thursday, after they said he stole the trailer from a church parking lot one week ago. After surveillance video of Petnel was released on Wednesday, police said they got a tip from a deputy sheriff that led them to the trailer at the suspect's home on Cinammon Lake circle.

Troop 285 Committee Chair Renee Waldrop says the trailer, and most, if not all of the camping and outdoor equipment the boy scouts stored in it, will be returned to them. And she says it was paid for entirely with boy scout fundraisers.

"He did steal from children. Those children worked their butts off raising their funds to buy the trailer and everything that's in it," she said.  "We never expected it would be found."
