‘Armed and dangerous’ kidnapper arrested, woman found safe after Tampa abduction: HCSO

Deputies have arrested the man who they believe kidnapped a woman early Thursday morning. The victim is safe, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they received a call about a possible kidnapping around 1:30 a.m. near the 5000 block of Bordeaux Village Place in Tampa.

Witnesses said they saw a black Nissan sedan pull up and two people physically forced 25-year-old Jayanna Clark into the vehicle, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe Clark was kidnapped by 26-year-old Jahvontae Bell. The two were missing for about 18 hours and were found exiting a shed off 13th Street SW in Largo, HCSO said.

Bell also had a warrant out for his arrest in Pinellas County for a separate armed kidnapping event in which Clearwater police said Bell forcibly stopped Clark from leaving an acquaintance's vehicle on the night of June 14, then "went to several locations."

CPD said Bell is Clark's ex-boyfriend.

"I'm relieved that this woman was found safely this evening," said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Now, our detectives will re-trace the steps taken by the suspect today and hold this man accountable."

Bell faces charges of armed kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
