Apopka firefighter injured on the job

A man who puts his life on the line every day as an Apopka firefighter has been injured on the job after a trailer fell on his leg and abdomen.

A firefighter with the Apopka Fire Department suffered a "significant work-related injury" Thursday morning and was transported to the hospital, the fire department said.

The department said the firefighter was listed in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center after he reportedly tried to move a trailer. The trailer tipped and pinned the man down, landing on his legs and abdomen. It’s not known what caused the trailer to tip.

The department referred to the incident as an "accident" and said the cause was under investigation. The firefighter has been with the department since 2020.
