ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 Orlando) - Eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) from Gore Street to South Street is scheduled to close at midnight through 5 a.m. on April 3.
The closure is necessary for bridge work at the I-4 and State Road (S.R.) 408 interchange. You can view or download a detailed online map of these nightly closures and detours at the Florida Department of Transportation website.
Additionally, the eastbound I-4 exit to Amelia Street (Exit 83A) is shifting to a temporary configuration as soon as the morning of April 3, and will be in place for about 18 months.
The exit point from I-4 to the new temporary ramp is just past Amelia Street and will place motorists on a separate travel lane partitioned from Garland Avenue by a barrier wall. The temporary configuration of the ramp will give motorists access to westbound Colonial Drive (State Road 50) after heeding a traffic signal and U-turn access to Amelia Street via Hughey Avenue after heeding a traffic signal.
The new configuration may require some motorists to alter their route to nearby areas. Motorists seeking to access other nearby areas, such as downtown Orlando or residential area near Lake Ivanhoe, may follow a new route.
This interim configuration is necessary to continue construction of the new eastbound I-4 travel lanes through downtown Orlando.
