A Florida Amber Alert for a 14-year-old girl missing from Volusia County was canceled on Tuesday afternoon after the child was found safe in another county, authorities said.

The alert was issued on Monday afternoon after the teenager was seen getting into someone's vehicle – possibly one belonging to her boyfriend or a family member of the boyfriend, and an apparent text message indicating she had been kidnapped, police previously told FOX 35.

Tuesday afternoon, the girl was found safe in Marion County, police said, and the AMBER Alert was canceled. Police said in an update on Tuesday, citing interviews with witnesses, that the initial kidnapping report was ultimately not true and that no crime had been committed.

"Based on statements from witnesses, our investigation determined that no crime had occurred due to the alleged accusation not being factual and also being reported by a third party and not the victim," a news release said.

No additional details were immediately released.
