AMBER ALERT: 1-year-old baby safe, father arrested

Police in Henry County successfully located an infant boy who was taken from outside a pediatrician's office in December.

Officials said that 1-year-old Bryson M. Gilchrist was taken from his mother outside of a Stockbridge pediatrician's office by his father, 20-year-old Mika Gilchrist.

After an Amber Alert was issued, Police found Bryson safe. The Georgia State Patrol eventually arrested Mika Gilchrist in DeKalb County.

Investigators believed that they were possibly heading to Suffolk, Virginia in a black 2019 Toyota Corolla LE with the North Carolina tag FFX4549.

Police told FOX 5 Gilchrist will be taken to Henry County to face charges.

UPDATE (June 21, 2019):

On May 30, a Henry County Grand Jury indicted Mika Gilchrist on a charge of aggravated stalking, for violating a condition of pre-trial release by contacting his child's mother without her consent.

The Henry County District Attorney's Office said Mr. Gilchrist could not be prosecuted for kidnapping, because he is married to the mother of the child involved in the December incident, and he is the child's father.
