ACLU demands facial recognition technology not be used at Orlando Police Department

ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is fired up about the latest facial recognition technology tested at the Orlando Police Department.

Orlando Police say that they tested Amazon's Rekognition system last week and they are evaluating whether or not to move forward. But, the ACLU is saying not to bring it back. The organization sent a letter to City Council demanding it not be used again.

The facial recognition technology uses cameras for facial recognition. The police department has said it could help nab suspects, but the ACLU says that it is a threat to civil liberties.
