Police: Six-year-old, adult hurt in overnight shooting in Orlando

A man and a child were hurt in a shooting overnight in Orlando, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Orlando police said a six-year-old child and a 30-year-old man were shot shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday near the Palm Grove apartments. Police later said that one shot was fired and injured both people.

The man was the intended target, according to the police investigation. The child was apparently standing nearby.

Both were taken to the hospital for treatment and are expected to be OK, police said.

Police said they have a description of the vehicle that the gunman may have used, but no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting yet. The investigation remains active.

Those at the apartment complex who spoke to a FOX 35 report said they were not surprised that a shooting had taken place, but was concerned that a child was injured.

"I heard one shot," someone told FOX 35.

"I looked out my window, I see somebody run down the stairs. Then I saw a white car pulled off real fast," they said.

She said she has just moved to the apartment complex and was now scared.
