6 children hit by golf cart in Kissimmee, 1 flown to hospital, police say

Six children were hit by an electric-powered golf cart in Kissimmee Friday night, according to police.

The incident happened around 9:12 p.m. just after the 9 p.m. Friday night at the "Boo on Broadway" Halloween event in Downtown Kissimmee.

An electric golf cart that had been set up to look like a trolley for children to sit on and take pictures turned into a terrifying situation.

I really didn’t know what was going on until I started to walk up and people were pointing under the car," said Josh Windheim who works nearby. "And I guess one of the kids was dragged by the popcorn cart."

At some point, a child was on the cart and it slipped into reverse before hitting six children, police said.

The golf cart also hit a pole.

Windheim said he saw a young boy hurt in his father's arms. "He walked by me and his son must have been a year and a half maybe two and the child was hurt and you can see it on his face, he was hurt too."

The boy was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for "precautionary reasons."

All the children involved are expected to be fine.

The incident is under investigation.
