2 bodies pulled from car on Florida Turnpike
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Florida Turnpike has reopened after being closed in both directions in Osceola County for several hours, due to an incident involving at least two fatalities in one vehicle.
A hazardous materials crew responded to a scene at mile marker 224 just after 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon-- the location is about 20 miles south of the U.S. Highway 192 access ramp in St. Cloud and about five miles south of the Canoe Creek Service Plaza.
A car had sustained minor damage after it hit a guard rail in the median. Two bodies were pulled from the vehicle, along with several items that were evaluated by a hazmat crew in full gear.
We have not yet confirmed what prompted hazmat to respond to the scene. Two Osceola County deputies and a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol were treated and released from a local hospital after they were exposed to an unknown substance inside the vehicle.
The identities of the deceased have not been released. The Medical Examiner will determine what caused their deaths.
