What we know

Troopers said the incident took place around 5 p.m. Dec. 31 in Palm Coast.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper reported they were traveling northbound on I-95 near mile marker 290 in pursuit of a vehicle with a BOLO alert. The alert was due to the driver of the vehicle making suicidal threats, the trooper stated.

However, the trooper said they lost sight of the driver and called off the pursuit.

Dispatch said they regained sight of the driver exiting onto US 1 and traveling south.

Reports showed another trooper, positioned at County Road 204 and US 1, then witnessed the driver pass their marked car. The trooper said the driver appeared to be accelerating rapidly, as if they were attempting to flee.

The trooper said they activated their emergency lights and sirens before pursuing the driver.

Officers said the driver entered a roundabout at US 1 and Old Kings Road, exiting onto Old Kings Road, weaving in and out of traffic in an effort to flee.

The trooper said they continued the pursuit down Old Kings Road.

With the help of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, who was identified as Guerrisi, was placed under arrest and transported to an area hospital for his injuries, officials said.

Both the trooper and auxiliary trooper involved also were transported to the hospital and have since been released, reports stated.

Officers said Guerrisi has been booked into the Flagler County Jail and is facing charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, assault on a law enforcement officer, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
