Man killed in shooting at Pine Hills apartment complex, deputies say

A man in his 20s was shot and killed at a Pine Hills apartment complex on Thursday, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said. According to investigators, it all started with a call about a stolen car.

He was identified by deputies as 20-year-old Keyon Bachelor.

When deputies arrived at the Park Hamilton Apartments at 5956 Park Hamilton Blvd. around 4 p.m., they said someone flagged them down, telling them a man had been shot. The victim was brought to the hospital before dying from his injuries. It is unclear if whoever shot the man has been caught.

"Now you have to be careful when you walk to your car, watch your back, make sure there’s nothing going on, make sure the kids are okay," said Toni McWhorter who lives at the complex.

After hearing about the most recent shooting, McWhorter said she's ready to move.

Last year, FOX 35 covered another shooting at the same complex. A man reportedly shot a woman and ran off.

While deputies surrounded the neighborhood Thursday night, dozens of residents were lined up, forced to wait in the street for hours, unable to drive past the police tape.

"It’s kind of frustrating, because I’m supposed to be working right now," Jinette Oscar. "I work from home, so sitting out here is killing my time and taking away from my money, but I can understand with the circumstances of what’s happening. That takes priority obviously, because someone’s life is on the line."

"Very frustrating," McWhorter said. "Long day at work, kids are acting crazy at school, and I’ve got to sit here an hour and a half while they do their investigation. I’m past done."

Another resident told FOX 35 that she heard about 20 gunshots and saw the victim before paramedics took him to the hospital.

Deputies ask anyone with information to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477)or the Orange County Sheriff's Office at 407-836-4357.
