LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - One person has died following a three-car, hit-and-run crash in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol says.
The crash took place around 1:47 p.m. Wednesday on State Road 44 and Forest Ridge Road in Eustis, troopers reported.
According to a FHP report, the driver of a semi-truck with a trailer was traveling eastbound on S.R. 44, east of Forest Ridge Road. Troopers say the driver of the vehicle attempted to slow down for another vehicle ahead and lost control of its trailer.
Patrol officer say the trailer went into the westbound lane and hit a Nissan Sentra, which caused the Nissan Sentra to go into the eastbound lane in the path of a Ford E-450.

The report states the impact caused the Nissan Sentra to hit the front of the Ford E-450.
The driver of the semi-truck continued traveling eastbound and did not remain on-scene, FHP says.
Troopers reported the driver of the Nissan Sentra was airlifted to CFR Hospital and then died.
The driver of the Ford E-450 was not transported to the hospital and remained at the scene of the crash, but the passengers were transported with minor injuries to the hospital, the report states.
There currently is a roadblock for both directions on S.R. 44. Traffic is being diverted at County Road 42 and Royal Trails Boulevard.
The crash currently remains under investigation.
