26-year-old woman dead after rear-ending semi-truck in Orange County: officials

A 26-year-old woman is dead after rear-ending a semi-truck in a late night Orange County crash on Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday on Boggy Creek Road near J. Lawson Boulevard. 

The woman and 51-year-old semi-truck driver were both traveling south on Boggy Creek approaching Lawson when the semi-truck slowed down as it approached a red light. The other driver failed to slow down, and the front of her car collided with the back of the semi-truck. 

The woman was transported to the UCF Lake Nona Hospital, where she later died. At the time of the crash, she was wearing her seatbelt. Her next of kin have been notified. 

The semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital in Kissimmee. 

The crash remains under investigation.
